I made this for a Axis and Allies variant game.  It’s derived from the NASA blue marble map some of which may be found here.  A significant amount of time in PhotoShop resulted in what you see.

The zones at the bottom are placeholders for the cities on the map.  For example, London, Berlin, Moscow, Tokyo, and so on have these zones for placing units.

Here’s a shot of Europe:

Below is a bit of South America with the Washington tile for excess units.  Hexes are merged near the poles so as to get curvature on the map.  Here the Cape Horn zone extends for two tiles so as to induce curvature.
